Get the most out of your tiny kitchen space

Sometimes the home of your dreams doesn't come with the kitchen you imagined, and if you don't have the funds to knock out a few walls and completely remodel right now, there are simple changes you can make to get the most out of your tiny kitchen space.

1. Storage to the ceiling
Everyone uses kitchen cabinetry for storage, but have you ever thought about using the wasted space above? If your cabinets don't go all the way to the ceiling, install some shelves on top to keep items you don't use everyday, like pitchers and serving dishes.

2. Install hooks
If you have no place to keep your pots and pans, consider installing hooks on the wall and incorporating your love for cooking into your decor. Pot racks that hang from the ceiling can be both utilitarian and beautiful - just make sure it's high enough where you won't occasionally hit your head on the pans.

3. Choose colors wisely
To make your kitchen seem more spacious, it's best to stick with lighter shades. White kitchen cupboards, countertops and walls will make the room seem larger. Accent with colorful appliances and choose a backsplash that will open up the space - if you're feeling adventurous, try one that's mirrored!
